ICAR–Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Phek (ICAR-ATARI Zone VII Umiam), under ICAR–National Research Centre on Mithun, organized the live webcast of the 21st instalment of the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi on 19th November 2025 at Porba campus. The programme aimed to create awareness on sustainable agriculture and various flagship government initiatives for farmers’ welfare and socio-economic development.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Singh, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Phek, who highlighted key Central Government schemes promoting agricultural growth and rural livelihood security. He urged farmers to actively adopt innovative technologies and government-supported interventions. Dr. Plabita Goswami, Scientist (Veterinary Medicine), spoke on prevention and control of major livestock diseases in Phek district, focusing on scientific management, vaccination, and early diagnosis. Dr. T. Esther Longkumer, CTO (Soil Science), delivered a session on natural farming, emphasizing soil health, organic inputs, and sustainable low-cost practices. Dr. Hanna K. Assangla briefed farmers on income-generating activities, and small-scale agri-enterprises. Mr. Manjunath K. S., SMS (Horticulture), explained integrated pest management (IPM) in kiwi and persimmon, offering organic pest control strategies that reduce chemical dependence. Er. Nukusa introduced the M-Anitra mobile application and demonstrated its utility in accessing advisories, technology updates for Mithun animal. An interactive farmer–scientist session allowed participants to discuss field issues and receive expert recommendations.
The live telecast of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s address was screened at the KVK training hall, where farmers witnessed the release of the 21st PM-KISAN instalment to beneficiaries across the country. A total of 246 farmers attended the event.
